If you haven’t yet explored using a variety of whole grains, or if you’d like to learn more about them, please join us for the upcoming July 5th free class, Whole  Grain Gluten-Free Cooking.

We’re on Facebook. You’ll find contemplations and other news there.

The flute music enjoyed in class is by Don Kearns; it’s on our collaborative CD Shavasana/Guided Relaxation. He will be performing, along with others, for the Second Bo Hua Chinese Music Night. For our CD, with great care, Don beautifully and meticulously adapted traditional Chinese compositions. He has a variety of flutes, some that he has made himself. He is looking forward to presenting a concert for us at the Point Loma United Methodist Church in the Fall.

In Tune with the Season

You may find you have more energy now that the days are longer and brighter. And your Yoga practice will enhance your energy, giving you a sustained flow of both dynamism and sense of being well-rested.

Now is the time to do some gardening–and if you have limited space, containers can also work very well. This is a way to bring your awareness to the seasons, and bring attention to your vital relationship with earth and plants, water and sun, air and wild creatures. Eating in tune with the type of season, you will find that summer is a prime time for eating lighter versions of fresh vegetables and fruits.

I just planted some seeds for the summer and most of them require very little water.

From Horizon Herbs:

Hopi Yellow Beans
Hopi Blue Corn

From Native Seed Search:

Blue Speckled Tepary Beans
Yoeme Purple String Beans

The beans are intercropped with the corn so that they can climb up the corn.
