California Bay

California Bay tree is similar to the Bay Laurel most people are familiar with. However, California Bay has a stronger scent and medicinal properties. You can crush a leaf or two when feeling faint or woozy. Some people have a strong aversion to the scent of the leaves, but the tea is generally agreeable to all. Useful for: seasoning for food; bug repellant; tea for headache; gastrointestinal discomforts; bath for aches and pains; incense. If you’re taking any hikes in the mountains these days, the trees may find you first by their scent. As always, give the tree an offering and thanks before harvesting any of its leaves–and choose trees that are off the beaten path for least depletion and greater purity of the harvest. Enjoy!

Testimonials

I had chemo in 2006 and it tightened my right side. This yoga has helped my posture, relieved the tightness, and improved my circulation.
